unique handmade art jewellery designed & assembled

Jennifer Dangerfield
Welcome to 'the art of curiosity...'
I specialize in the unique. I assemble one-off pieces of jewellery which feature the work of some of the most distinguished art bead makers currently working in the United Kingdom, Europe & the USA. As well as these remarkable beads, I use only the finest quality ingredients that I am able to source.
This site is not just an expression of my adoration of beautiful & remarkable art beads. It is also a display of my love affair with that chameleon of precious metals - pale, cool, mysterious silver. When my mother was given a bracelet which had been formed out of a lonely antique sterling silver fork, I was bewitched by the coiled tines & hammered surface and in my child's mind, I believed that this altered beauty was only possible because of the magical qualities of silver & thus the seeds of my passion were sewn.
You may be wondering why I call my work 'the art of curiosity...'? Jewellery designers & artists now have an immense variety of materials to play with. We have the opportunity & flexibility to exercise our minds and imagination & I want to explore as many of these avenues as I'm can.
The silver that I use is either sterling silver or silver worked by the Karen Hill tribe in Northern Thailand. With a silver content of 99.5%, this siilver is virtually the purest used in jewellery. Each piece is handmade & is lighter in weight than sterling silver with a soft lustre that I adore. I purchase my silver from Shiana - please read their mission statement for more information.
Because the exquisite art glass beads featured in these pieces of jewellery are lovingly & individually hand crafted, each of the pieces you are about to see is unique & cannot be replicated.
Each piece has been designed & assembled by me. Although I do occasionally allow myself the pleasure of browsing other designer's websites, I limit my visits because ideas percolate - I am firm with myself because I want my designs to come out of my own imagination - to be unique, individual & exclusive. I have spent over three years teaching myself my craft & my designs are the result of that labour.
A note about colour - as you can probably guess, I endeavour to present you with the best photographs that I am able to take. I rely on the light of the sun in order to give you an accurate idea of the colours in each piece. However as monitor settings may vary from computer to computer, there is a possibility that the actual colours may differ slightly from those on screen. I have 'road tested' this & have never encountered any problems myself but I feel I must warn you of this possibility.

As well as jewellery, I create other work which comes under the umbrella of 'Altered Art'. ''the art of curiosity..' is my expression & interpretation of me. I am fascinated by so many things & these feed my art. If you take a look at 'the art of curiosity...' blog, you'll find out more about what sustain & refreshes my mind & imagination.
Enough of my chatter - where would you like to go now?
