Love Your Lobes

Here's a little tip which you might wish to consider. Although I am fortunate & am able to wear sterling silver earwires, from time to time I do occasionally develop a sensitivity problem.  My solution is to gently cleanse my earwires using a gentle soap or cleanser which is specifically designed for sensitive skin.  We're often reminded to wash our cosmetic brushes - I like to do the same with my earwires.  I do of course ensure that the ear fittings are dried thoroughly.  Thus far I haven't encountered any problems & my ear piercings seem very happy with the arrangement.

OBVIOUSLY THIS SHOULD BE AVOIDED IF YOUR JEWELLERY CONTAINS PEARLS OR OTHER SOFT STONES.

If you do experience any problems after following this tip, please let me know & I will strike these paragraphs from the site.  I must add one further note before browsing may begin - please be advised that my tip is just a suggestion.  The care & responsibility of your jewellery lies with you.

For those of you with sensitive ears, I'm now able to offer you titanium earwires as a substitute.

I have one further note to add about earrings.  Unless an earring has been attached to a leverback ear fitting, I provide see-through safety plugs or stoppers. I've shed several tears over lost earrings in the past - I don't want the same thing to happen to you!

By now I'm sure you can recognise Laura Sparling's work - it's so chic!

The Midas Touch

These polymer beads by Emma Ralph should be hanging in an art gallery. Aren't we lucky to be able to exhibit them ourselves?

Hill Tribe silver sets the scene.

Length for tip to toe:  approx 5 ½ cm or 2 ¼ inches

Price: £60 / $117

Chocolate Waves

Let's look at some of Emma Ralph's graphically detailed work. The core of chocolately chestnut encased in clear glass is mouthwatering. My photograph

doesn't show that the dot & speckle detail decorates both the top & bottom hole - neither is it clear that the wave has a metallic lustre. My camera &

I don't always see eye to eye about things.

Length from tip to toe:  4 cm / approx 1½ inches

Price: £ 55 / approx $108

These beguiling beads were made by the fair hands of Beverley Hicklin.  Aren't they Irresistible?

Length from tip to toe: approx 5 ½ cm or 2 ¼ inches

Silvered Ivory Stacks

Sarah B ( Helen Brodt-Savage ) created the beads featured in these ultra flattering earrings. They have an ivory base on which trails and dashes

of silver have been added. Simple but so effective!

Price: £45 or approx $88

Sculpt Mark I: The Dappled Pair

Emma Ralph's reputation as a colourist is amply demonstrated here. The light was strong enough today to flood this picture with light - I was

determined to show you the full enchanting effect of these beads. I did my best but the violet core & the softness of the dappled decoration

evaded me. Dear Reader, I tried!

Length from tip to toe: approx 4 ¾ cm or 1¾ inches

Price: £60 or approx $117

Etched Ripples

These babes glow! And yes, the ripples are indeed a dash of deep plum.  By now you should be able to identify each artist's work so can you guess

who created these beads?  Full marks all round for Emma Ralph.

Length from tip to toe: approx 4 cm or 1½ inches

Price: £40 or approx $78

Sculpt Mark II - Tribute to Alice Oswald

These stupendous hand faceted beads are by Beverley Hicklin and I've added some large Hill Tribe white silver flattened drops to accentuate

their organic beauty. At approx 15mm wide, these beads come from tactile heaven.  Sadly the colours were elusive.  In the flesh, the heathery

purple is closer to lilac & the lighter green has flashes of lime.

Alice Oswald is one of my favourite poets & she writes about some of the places & landscapes that I know so well.  My imagination lives a little

further west in Cornwall, but we have tors, moors and wooded rivers in common.  To find out a little more about Alice, please click here.

Length from tip to toe: approx 5 cm or 2 inches

Price: £60 or approx $117

Price: £25 or approx $ 49

Sculpt with Colour: Swoon!

All words are insipid when it comes to describing colour or indeed the work of any of the artists featured within these pages. Aren't these

beads spectacular?  Emma - thou art one of the Bead Queens!  Hill Tribe silver swoons either side of the beads.

Length from tip to toe: approx 4 cm or 1½ inches

Price: £60 or approx $117

Apples

These beads are so enticing.  If I had an evil step-mother who offered me a bite, I'd turn her down immediately.  How could one

damage something as perfect as either apple here?

Length from tip to toe:  approx 5 cms or 2 inches

Price: £55 or approx $108

Sunbathers

Sea & sand - isn't Emma Ralph clever?

Twilight Earrings

If the earrings above are Cate Blanchett then these are Catherine Zeta Jones. That's my instinctive response &

I haven't a shred of evidence to back up my whims!

Length from tip to toe:  approx 5 cm or 2 inches

Price: £45 or approx $88

More proof (if proof were needed) that Emma Ralph is a member of the Polymer Clay Royal Family. Polymer clay is the

perfect medium for earrings - you can be bold AND comfortable.

Price: £45 or approx $88

Daisies

Emma Ralph's pale lavender 'Paperweight' beads are so sweet & enchanting - has your heart melted yet?

Price: £40 or approx $78

Aegean Droplets

Laura Sparling created these sweet beads which are entwined with silver & then encased in clear glass.  They form dazzling droplets!

Length from the upper most tip of the earwire down to the toe bead: approx 4¼ cms or 1¾ inches

Price: £35 or approx $68

Show-Off

The core of these beads by Emma Ralph is a deep blue-toned purple - something akin to tanzanite. They have been in encased in clear glass which has then been 'sprinkled' with teal.  If one holds these earrings up to the light, one sees a myriad of flashes & sparkles of colour.  They like to be the centre of attention so if your hair is long, consider pinning it up.  Those of you with short hair will be able to flirt without the hairpins!!

Karen silver spacer beads & sterling silver accoutrements accompany these beads.

Length from the top tip of the earwire to the bead at the toe: approx 5 cms or 2 inches

Price: £45 or approx $78
